“If you want to be free to serve Jesus, there’s no question—stay single. Marriage takes a lot of time. But if you want to become more like Jesus, I can’t imagine any better thing to do than to get married.” – Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas
I read this book a few weeks before the wedding and, after only one year into our marriage, I can confidently say that this statement is true.
Marriage is not always sunshine and roses, it takes time and a lot of work. Like in our relationship with Christ, there are bumps and bruises, days we feel like it and days we don’t, good days and not so good days, but it is always worth it.
Marriage is the best decision and best depiction of the love of Christ and, if it has taught me anything, it is how to learn through love and grow in love.
Learning to accept and to be accepted. Learning to be open, honest, and vulnerable. Learning to forgive and to be forgiven. Learning to love and to be loved.
Growing in character. Growing in serving. Growing in trust. Growing in gentleness. Growing in patience. Growing in obedience. Growing in love for myself. Growing in love for God. Growing in love for one another.
Thank you for showing me the love of Jesus. Thank you for helping me grow, learn, and become more like Jesus. Thank you for loving me the way that you do.
Happy Anniversary, my sweet love! I’m blessed and honored to be your wife. I love you always and forever.
